Daytona Beach Fishing Charters and Competitions

Daytona is known as the World’s Most Famous Beach for its 23 miles of sandy coastline, but what lies beyond the shore is as equally renowned. Both the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River are brimming with sport fish. Located in the heart of the Fishing Capital of the World, Daytona Beach offers several local charters for part day and full day fishing trips and even hosts various fishing tournaments. Whether you are a novice or an expert angler, Daytona Beach is the place to go to cast a line.

Nearly all of the Daytona Beach area’s fishing charters are family or locally owned, navigated by captains with years of recreational and commercial experience. Captain Chuck “CB” Bragg has over 40 years of experience as a professional fishing guide and commercial fisherman in the Daytona Beach area and offers offshore, deep sea, and inshore trips for the whole family. Captain Fred “The Fishing Guy” has been an active angler fishing daily in the area’s waters since 1985 and even has years of international fishing experience from the Bahamas to Madagascar to Indonesia.

Critter Fleet is home to multiple boats, aboard which you might score Sailfish, Wahoo, Tuna, Snapper, Grouper, Cobia, and more during year-round offshore sport fishing charters, troll fishing, and bottom fishing trips. Captain Shane of Back to Blue Charters knows where the fish are and how to catch them, whether you choose flats fishing or inlet and near shore fishing. Another great family friendly fishing adventure is aboard one of Captain Corey Simmons’ two boats in Daytona Beach’s waters with On the Hook Charters, either inshore or offshore.

Some of the best inshore fishing trips are led by Captain John Schmidt of Floating Time Charters and Captain Kyle of Crider Fishing Charters. Both anglers were born in raised in the Daytona Beach area and have over 20 years of experience fishing in the local waters. Redfish, Snook, Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, Tarpon, and Shark are just a few of their favorite saltwater catches.

As a community, Daytona Beach outspokenly favors the skilled Wahoo, Dolphin, and King Mackerel catches, as the King of the Inlet is crowned for such in the annual offshore fishing tournaments held in April, May, and June. The Halifax Sport Fishing Club also hosts an annual Offshore Challenge as well as an annual Lady Angler Challenge. Each year, the tournaments are anticipated with months of preparation and team building, as cash prizes are awarded to winners and the ultimate title is crowned to the “King of the Inlet!”

Daytona’s great resources and responsible management make it one of the most fun, friendly destinations to fish. Its diversity of sport fishes, habitats, great weather, year-round fishing, and superb tourism and fishing industry-related infrastructure are major contributors to Florida’s title as the Fishing Capital of the World.
