The Daytona Beach Museum of Arts & Sciences truly has something for everyone. The largest museum in the area is located on the Tuscawilla Preserve and is spread out over 90 acres. Featured on the property is a state-of-the-art planetarium which is awe-inspiring and educational. The MoAS also displays the most complete fossil of the Volusia County Giant Ground Sloth on the continent. This animal was over 13 feet tall!
The MoAS also is home to the only hands-on science center between Orlando and Jacksonville. Filled with many interactive exhibits, kids will learn while having a blast.
Halifax Historical Museum – 252 South Beach Street, Daytona Beach, FL 32114
The Halifax Historical Museum was established in 1949 and is at the forefront of preserving Florida history. If you want to learn about the Daytona Beach area, this is a visit you’ve got to make. Among their permanent exhibits, you will learn about the Civil War in Florida, Jackie Robinson, Mary McLeod Bethune, Pioneer Life and much more. They also feature seasonal exhibits that keep the content in the museum fresh all year long. In addition to the museum, the building in and of itself is magnificent. The old Merchant’s Bank Building which was built in 1910. This is certainly one of the best Daytona Beach museums and art galleries.
