Daytona Beach Surrounding Area
The amazing city of Daytona Beach and all of its wonders are well-known throughout the world. “The World’s Most Famous Beach” has achieved legendary status for its biker events, beach activities and NASCAR racing. What many people don’t know is that the Daytona Beach surrounding area is equally fun and engaging. Our goal is to provide you with some information on these great cities so you can get the most out of your stay.
New Smyrna Beach
New Smyrna Beach is a surfing town with one of the most charming atmospheres you’ll find anywhere. If you’re looking for a place to visit that offers a laid back vibe, New Smyrna is your place. Rent a surfboard and hit the waves for a bit, then walk up to Flagler Avenue. There you will find local restaurants, bars and shops with goods that you won’t find anywhere else. In 2012, New Smyrna Beach was named one of the “World’s Top 20 Surf Towns” by National Geographic magazine. We have no doubt, you will fall in love with New Smyrna.
DeLand is a quaint town, just a short drive southwest of Daytona Beach. The town of DeLand is the county seat of Volusia County and features one of the best downtown areas in the country. In 2014, DeLand was a finalist in Parade Magazine’s “Best Main Street In America” competition, finishing in the top eight. Walking downtown will take you back to an earlier time. Visit some of the locally owned businesses that make this area so unique. DeLand is also home to Stetson University, which was established in 1883. Stetson’s campus is one of the most beautiful in the country. The architecture and groundskeeping is absolutely stunning (visit Elizabeth Hall, you won’t regret it). It’s amazing to see the structures from so early in this area’s history.
You could keep yourself entertained in Daytona Beach for a very long time. We’d recommend venturing to the Daytona Beach surrounding area for a full experience of the area.
