There you can indulge in your favorite tropical drinks as you watch the world go by.

Watch out for Daytona Beach in 2017

Long-time residents of Daytona Beach already know it is a wonderful place to live, work, and play, so of course it makes sense that more and more people are attracted to the area. Many real estate experts expect Daytona Beach to be one of the most desirable markets in the country in 2017 and beyond, and there are plenty of reasons they think so.

Forbes.com recently  rated Daytona Beach to Ormond Beach as the 3rd hottest real estate market to watch in 2017. That study, contributed by Trulia, was based on three significant factors, and the Daytona Beach region scored high in all of them. Here are the three best reasons to move to Daytona Beach in 2017.

Job Growth

Job growth spurs a local economy and attracts new residents. Home buyers like to know they will be able to work close to home and afford the mortgage. They need to know that the employment situation in the area is stable, and that future opportunities for growth will be available.

Daytona Beach scored well in terms of job growth, from its new high-end developments creating construction jobs, to the large number of national and international businesses the region has recently attracted. The One Daytona development is just another exciting example of new development bringing hundreds of new permanent jobs to the area.

Home Affordability

It is no secret that real estate prices have recovered significantly since the depths of the Great Recession, but housing in Daytona Beach is still surprisingly affordable. Home affordability was one of the factors Trulia looked at when creating its rankings, and the Daytona Beach region scored very high on that list.

Homes in the Daytona Beach area are priced at less than the national average, making the region a natural choice for new buyers, downsizers, and others looking for an affordable lifestyle. Equally as important, increasing property values should continue to drive growth in the future, making a home in Daytona Beach a wise investment in a great beachside community.

Online Search Frequency

These days, most potential buyers use the Internet to research an area and potential homes before they start making a move. That is why Trulia considered online search frequency for housing in their rankings, and once again, Daytona Beach scored well.

Daytona Beach is a hot market for flipping houses, and its combination of low prices and ample housing stock has attracted real estate investors from around the country and across the globe. Whether you are an investor, a first-time home buyer, or a downsizer, you can find what you want in this great growing area of the East Coast.

Condo communities like Marina Grande on the Halifax have long believed in the beauty and longevity of this special stretch of Volusia County. Offering luxury lifestyle and a beautiful view of the Halifax River, this established gated community is a perfect place to start your home buying journey. Bike Week in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach has long been a haven for motorcycle enthusiasts, with the warm Florida weather and the sunshine serving as a fitting backdrop for a week-long, two-wheeled fun. At any one time, there are thousands of motorcycles prowling the streets of Daytona Beach and its surrounding areas, but when Bike Week comes around things get taken to a whole different level.

History

The famous Daytona Beach Bike Fest has a long and storied history, with the first one held in 1937. The first rally, even though it was thought to only attract just a few hundred motorcycles, was viewed as an instant success. The Daytona Beach Bike Fest took a break during the World War II years, as Americans focused on more important matters and fought to bring their country back from the brink. From 1942 to 1947, there was no motorcycle rally on the streets of Daytona Beach, but Bike Fest came roaring back once the war ended and we were once again in the mood to party.

Much has changed from the origins of The Daytona Beach Bike Fest. The bikes, bikers, and the area may have looked a bit different in the old days, but the spirit behind Daytona Beach Bike Fest remains the same even some eight decades later. The name was even changed to Daytona Beach Bike Week.

Present Day Bike Week

With hundreds of thousands of bikes and their owners coming into Daytona Beach for Bike Week, this 10-day motorcycle rally is one of the largest, and certainly one of the best attended rallies in the entire country. This annual event draws bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts from throughout the region and around the United States. It typically takes place in early March, right after The Daytona 500 and Daytona Speedweeks, so there is still time to make your plans and get your own bike ready for the action.

Still going strong after more than seven decades in existence, Daytona Beach Bike Week is bigger, badder, and louder than ever before. This famous bike rally features many events attendees will only find at Daytona Beach Bike Week, including Cabbage Patch Coleslaw wrestling. Festivities take place throughout the Daytona Beach area, but some of the biggest and best events are found along Main Street and on US1 in Ormond Beach. Aside from the coleslaw wrestling matches, attendees at Daytona Beach Bike Week can enjoy daily bike shows, motorcycle swap meets, live music and concerts at Destination Daytona, and other popular downtown bars and even professional motorcycle racing at the world-famous Daytona International Speedway.

If you live to ride, Daytona Beach is the place to be this March. Just jump on your favorite bike, point the handlebars toward Daytona Beach and head south. When you arrive, you will find plenty of fellow motorcycle enthusiasts, along with live music, great food, and the camaraderie only the biker community fully understands.

Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier

As the premier entertainment center in the area, the Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier features outdoor/indoor rides and amusements, live performances,
fireworks displays, great food, and more! One of the most recognizable landmarks in the city, the Boardwalk has been the center of beach life since the beginning of the community.

Rewind to before the turn of the 20th century, and the original palm log pier extended 600 feet into the ocean, located at the end of Main Street where the present pier resides. It was known as the Keating Pier, named after its builder, until it was nearly destroyed by a tremendous fire in 1920 and sold to Jeter McMillan shortly after.

McMillan tore it down and constructed the new Pier Casino, which opened on June 11, 1925. The 1,000-foot pier featured a Victorian style building with an ornate ballroom, often accommodating up to 2,000 dancers and hosting some of the top bands of the day. The Pier Casino was the scene of charity balls, weddings, beauty contests, social events, and civic meetings.mg-boadwalk-blog-1

During that time, racing still took place on the beach, requiring some of the pier’s pilings to be removed to allow racecars to pass underneath. Needless to say, it became a popular site for photos of the famous racers who came to Daytona Beach. Once such photos were seen increasingly worldwide, Daytona Beach became known as, “The World’s Most Famous Beach.” After McMillan’s passing in 1946, the pier changed ownership several times until the city of Daytona Beach took operational control in 2009, completely refurbished it, and sought a long-term, quality tenant for the casino building.

mg-board-walk-blog-2On June 5, 2012, the Daytona Beach Pier reopened, and Joe’s Crab Shack opened its doors to begin serving a unique brand of seafood and casual entertainment. While modernized, the Boardwalk’s combination of family operated businesses and old-fashioned nuances give it a nostalgic touch.

At the base of the pier, Zeno’s Boardwalk Sweet Shop features an old-fashioned saltwater taffy-puller in the window, making it impossible to sneak kids past the pastel-colored sweetness. The Daytona Beach Boardwalk also encompasses the Joyland Amusement Center with best new and classic arcade favorites, Mardi Gras Fun Center, Pizza King, and several gift shops located right on the beach.

The breathtaking views and ocean breeze can also be experienced from the Grand Prix Go-Kart Raceway and atop the Ferris wheel, tilt-a-whirl, roller coaster, or slingshot at Boardwalk Amusements. Once on the ground, the Splash Park, playground, and volleyball can be enjoyed at Breakers Oceanfront Park.

The fun, carefree time even carries into the night, with concerts, street performances, and fireworks displays at the historic Daytona Beach Bandshell, located at the threshold of Ocean Walk Shoppes and restaurants.

Over the years, the Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier has withstood both fire, constant pounding surf, and hurricanes, but still stands strong and full of character, serving as a perfect venue for family friendly activities, a city landmark, and a source of many memories.
